Kinda Crazy

Hey guys this week was super awesome we had an activity this week for all the spanish families to help them get to know each other better and to celebrate valentine's day. So we spent this whole week getting to know the families and inviting them to the activity.  Also something else super cool is back in Nogales in September me and Elder Ocampo got a referral from someone named Gabby because she saw an ad on Facebook and so she signed up and got referred to us so we called her and had a few lessons over the phone with her while she was in the Hospital in Tucson. But we ended up losing contact with her because of her treatments and other things like that but early in January she called and said she was staying in Tucson and not coming back to Nogales and that she started having lessons with some sisters closer to her. Then transfers come and I end up in Tucson and a week later me and Elder Johnston get invited to a baptism because she met Elder Johnston once and wanted him to confi...

Hey guys. This week was interesting we spent most of our time preparing for Leisa's baptism that is today. Its going to be awesome. Shes older and has some health problems so it going to be a cool baptism because I'll be baptizing her with the help of my companion because she's older and can't bend too well and there are some other health concerns as well. So its going to be the first baptism I've seen like that and I'll be a part of it. Which is cool. She been meeting with the missionaries for 40 years and she's finally getting baptized which is awesome.  Also EpifaƱio (the other guy who was supposed to be baptized this week) he was in the hospital with some heart problems and is waiting for a covid test so we haven't been able to meet with him in person but we have been able to call him and pray with him and he said as soon as he was feeling better he is going to go to church and continue with the lessons so he can be baptized. This week was a good o...

Also i now have a Javalina skull for my desk and its sweet. Also leisa is making a ton of progress and she is scheduled to be baptized of Feb 1 which is the day . A1q transfers because she really wants all 3 of us to be at her baptism. So we're all super excited about that. Not much to tell this week but i hope you guys had a good week.  Elder Holdstock

So this week was a good one. We weren't able to talk to some of the people we were hoping we would be able to but we did get back in contact with a few people that we hadn't seen for a long time. One is the Navarro family the husband and one of the daughters are members but the mother is not. They called us out of nowhere and invited us over for dinner and it was awesome we were able to talk to them again and set up some lessons to reactivate them and help the wife understand the importance of baptism. We also found a couple of new people to start teaching which is exciting. We were also able to set a baptism date with Epifanio for the end of this month and he is excited because his parents baptized him as a baby but this is his choice to be baptized and he cant wait he said he was scared he wouldnt pass the interview but we went over it with him and he did just fine.  On friday we were able to go over to a members house and he butchered a javalina right in front of us and m...

Another One

This week was a pretty calm week nothing that crazy happened. No more car accidents this week. We had a guy we are teaching named Epifanio come to church this week and he talked to one of the members and told him that he was interested in being baptized and he just wants to learn more about our church. It is kind of hard because he cant read and he doesnt have a smartphone or computer so we had to find the book of mormon on CD which luckily the zone leaders had just been given by a family in their ward who was moving so we were able to get that to him. We also visited Frank again and he told us he's excited to come to be baptized but he had covid so he hasnt been able to come to church. But he believes in the book of mormon and wants to be baptized. We just have our fingers crossed that he doesnt have any serious problems with the law of chastity or the word of wisdom. Leisa has also made some progress on her smoking but she's moving a lot slower than she wants and that is fr...

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hey guys! Sorry its been a while since I've written an email. But I'm still alive (barely) this last week i was on an exchange in South Tucson on my birthday and i got the best gift. It was a hit and run! But the story gets better we called the police and they hung up on us. But eventually they answered and took our information. We also did a lot of service helping someone move and they had a bunch of cool swords and stuff like that. We are working with a woman named Leisa who we have a baptism date with but she has problems with the word of wisdom. But she has the desire to quit which is good its just going to take her some time. And we are praying she will quit soon. We are also teaching a family that has the desire to be baptized but we still need to set a date with them so hopefully we can do that this coming week. Hope you guys are doing good! Elder Holdstock
