Hello Mexico, Good-bye Winter




Hey everybody,
This week has been kinda wild lots of rushing around and trying to get everything done, But it's been great. The spanish is coming a long I've already got a few things down like the first vision and the missionary objective. I can tell you for sure that the gift of tongues definitely has a lot to do with that. 

This week in our classes we had short 10 min. mock lessons with "Catherine" who is our teacher, where we went in and got to know her and teach her a lesson. So in our first lesson me and my companion talked with her and just spent most of the time getting to know her and her family. After we got to know her we taught her the Plan of Salvation lesson and told her she could be with her family forever. She said she needed more faith before she would believe it. So we asked her if we could pray with her and for her to have more faith. and she said yes. Then the next day we taught her again and asked her if she had exercised her faith, how? and if she had felt an increase in her faith. She said she did a little and we then asked her if she knew how to pray and we said she didn't know so we taught her how to give a basic prayer and then challenged her to pray throughout the week. We then asked her to give the closing prayer and helped her give it. The rest of the time we just spent learning spanish and how to correctly use the words correctly.

But I can honestly say that the gift of tongues has been helping me and that the CCM knows what they're doing and they are experts at it.

Surprise Call

(New Missionaries entering the Mexico City MTC on October 22, 2019) Today we were driving home along I-80 when our phones started ringing simultaneously.  It was Mitchell calling!!!  We quickly pulled over and answered the phone.  Since Mitchell's group did not get a P-day this week, they were granted a few hours on Saturday to do P-day stuff.  It had only been 4 days since we last talked to him, but it was music to a mothers ears.  He reported that his companion is Elder Smithson from Mapleton Utah.  He has learned more Spanish in the 4 days he has been at the MTC than in all the years he sat in class at school.  He sleeps on the bottom bunk of a 2 bedroom home that houses 4 American missionaries in his room and 4 native speaking missionaries in the other room.  Elder Bowen of the Seventy gave a devotional there this week.  He is happy and working on speaking more to those around him.  As we spoke to him, he would temporarily halt ...

Tucson Arizona Mission

Mitchell received his re-assignment to the Tucson Arizona Mission. He departed Salt Lake City today and safely arrived in his new mission. He is excited to get back out and serve the Lord.   ————————————————————————————————————————— Dear loved one,   Your missionary has arrived and we are so pleased and excited for the work that lays ahead. President and Sister Grisel welcomed them and provided them with training and orientation to get them adjusted to the new mission.  Those who are newer missionaries have been assigned experienced trainers.  Those who have been reassigned from previous missions due to COVID have picked up where they left off and are up and running already.   Thank you for all that you have done and will do to support these missionaries as they now work to serve God’s children and bring them the light and the promise of the gospel of Jesus Christ.   Warm regards,   President and Sister Grisel

Bye to the Border

  Hey guys. This week was interesting we spent most of our time preparing for Leisa's baptism that is today. Its going to be awesome. Shes older and has some health problems so it going to be a cool baptism because I'll be baptizing her with the help of my companion because she's older and can't bend too well and there are some other health concerns as well. So its going to be the first baptism I've seen like that and I'll be a part of it. Which is cool. She been meeting with the missionaries for 40 years and she's finally getting baptized which is awesome.  Also Epifañio (the other guy who was supposed to be baptized this week) he was in the hospital with some heart problems and is waiting for a covid test so we haven't been able to meet with him in person but we have been able to call him and pray with him and he said as soon as he was feeling better he is going to go to church and continue with the lessons so he can be baptized.
